R o m a ş a N o u n s
Nouns are persons, places, and things. End of grammar lesson. Like the other Romance languages, Romaşa nouns carry grammatical gender - masculine or feminine. The general rule is if the word ends in /u/, it's masculine, and if it ends in /a/, it's feminine. Of course, this comes with the occasional exceptions. Nouns are also inflected for number, singular or plural. Masculine Nouns Masculine nouns tend to end in /u/ and are pluralized by changing this /u/ to an /i/. Nouns ending in /e/ also change that to an /i/. anu -> ani (years)
filu -> fili (threads) pilu -> pili (javelins) cae -> cai (dogs) Masculine nouns that have a /c/ before the final /u/ change the /c/ to /ç/:
ecu -> eçi (male friends) Masculine nouns that have a /t/, /d/, /z/, or /s/ before the final /u/ change those letters to /tş/, /dg/, /g/, and /ş/, respectively:
peitu -> peitşi (chests) oursu -> ourşi (bears) Masculine nouns that end in /û/ change that to /ui/ (effectively, /û/ is /uu/ , so that final /u/ becomes an /i/):
hoû -> houi (men)
